Mystery Plant Identification Needed

Please help! I planted a random packet of wildflower seeds and found this mystery flower. Does anybody know the name of it? I think it's a beauty and will definitely save the seeds to plant next year.

It's around three feet tall and appears to be bushing out with more flower stalks emerging. The leaves are variegated with hints of pink.

Thanks for your help! I'm clueless on this one.

Sorry, I'm no help at all. I've never seen a flower like this, but then that's not surprising for me:) I can see why you would want to save the seeds, though--it's a beauty!

Sure is pretty, whatever it is. The flowers remind me of a carnation, sort-of. Does it have a scent?

Do you still have the packet? Maybe you can figure it out by process of elimination?

It looks like a Clarkia to me. It's an easy flower to grow from seed and is often included in mixes. I've never heard of them being this tall so I could be wrong. It is a stunner.

Karrita,

It looks like Mountain Garland to me. (Clarkia unguiculata) Maybe double, even. That would be my guess anyway.

Sure is pretty.

It's gorgeous...few of us have ever heard of it...isn't that amazing? You'd think everyone would know about it. It deserves more publicity. Maybe you should do a post specifically on Clarkia!!??

Now, off to find some Clarkia seeds...my next job!

It looks like old hollyhock to me, but I'll be swayed to Clarkia.

How encouraging it is to see pictures of lush growth and flowers at this time of the year, when it all feels very much an act of faith in this part of the world. But like all such, it will be worth it :)

I will look up clarkias. I had no idea they were so pretty.

Gorgeous garden Karitta!
I believe the flower is, Clarkia pulchella/double mixed. I just looked it up in my huge Flora encyclopedia. Thanks for stopping by my blog today!

I can't remember if I've grown clarkia before or not. It also reminds me of stock. I'll have to see if it grows in my zone. It sure is pretty! I'm glad you got the ID for it.
